Welcome to Chapel Fields Junior School!
We hope your children have a wonderful, all-round experience throughout their time with us, and become educated intellectually, physically and emotionally, in class and on the playground. We wish to help them grow both now and in society throughout the rest of their lives. Many interventions are on offer for our pupils’ varying needs.
We have around 260 pupils, aged 7-11, in our school, with two or three classes in each year group.
Children can arrive and will be supervised from 8.30am, with registration following at 8.40am. Lessons last for one hour or 45 minutes, with a 15-minute morning break, 20-minute assembly and 45-minute lunch break each day. Children can order a school lunch or bring in their own lunch from home on any given day.
In addition to topic-related workshops, visitors in school and trips out of school, key experiences for pupils at our school include:
Year 3: Thorough induction/nurturing process; Tri-golf.
Year 4: Playing an instrument (currently guitar, previously brass).
Year 5: Bikeability; swimming; Safeside; optional residential music/drama trip.
Year 6: Optional residential adventure trip; thorough transition process.
Every child belongs to a house – currently a local National Trust property – and will make an annual visit each summer term, following various pursuits whilst there.
We have various, staff-led, after-school clubs running for free on at least three nights per week, to suit all pupils’ interests. Our School Council has representation from each year group, in order to pass on the views of all our pupils.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require any further information or wish to look around our school, which we are all proud of.

INFORMATION AND REMINDERS FOR PARENTS
Please remember to call the School office by 8.40am EVERY day your child is absent.
Please note there is no playground supervision until 8.30am each day.
If you need to pass information to your child’s teacher, can you please send in a letter or contact the School office by e-mail or telephone.
There have been a number of parents wishing to see their child's teacher before or after school. Please note that appointments should be made whenever parents require them as teachers have before/after school clubs or meetings to attend. You can request an appointment by contacting the School office. Appointments also need to be made to see Mrs Rogers or Mrs Pimm/Miss Jordan please.
Please can all parents give a copy of the appointment letter or card to the School office should your child need to attend an outside appointment before or during school time.
Would all parents ensure NO NUTS are brought into School at any time. This includes peanut butter sandwiches. Also, please note that, sadly, we cannot allow any sweets for the class when pupils are celebrating their birthdays.
Any parents arriving late at the end of the school day should walk to the office to collect their child for safeguarding reasons please.
If you are attending School with your child for a reading quiz, please remember to sign in by 8.30am.
It is the responsibility of the parent to make sure all medicines kept in School are up-to-date. Inhalers need to be checked on a regular basis to ensure they are working correctly and are in-date. School also needs to be made aware of any changing medical conditions your child may have.
Would all parents kindly ensure their child’s PE kit is brought into School every Monday and taken home every Friday.
Can all parents please ensure their child brings a WATER BOTTLE into school every day.
Would all parents please ensure that any reading books taken from the School library are returned in order for all pupils to have on-going access to a wide range of books to suit all their interests.
Please note that School will no longer be sending reminders for School trips as these can be found on the School website to download.
